The former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan never holds himself back when it comes to taking a dig at the Pakistani players. In the ongoing World Cup edition, shots were fired as fans and leading cricketing experts from Pakistan engaged in numerous banters with Pathan.
The Men in Green were tasked with a near-improbable task of beating England by 287 runs to surpass New Zealand’s NRR. However, their semi-final aspirations extinguished instantly the moment England opted to bat first. Subsequently, Pakistan failed to put on a spectacular show and instead slumped to a humiliating 93-run defeat, thus ending their campaign on a sour note.
In his latest episode, Irfan once again went hard at the former Pakistani players who ridiculed him for breaking into a celebration with the Afghanistani players after their famous victory against Pakistan in Chennai.
Following Pakistan’s group stage exit, Irfan posted a cryptic tweet on his X (Formerly Twitter) handle.
“Kai padosi X cricketers ke dil ke arman ansuoo mein behe gaye,” Irfan Pathan said on his social media handle.
He wrote whether the desire of former cricketers from neighboring Pakistan tuned into tears of sorrow after Pakistan succumbed to an embarrassing defeat against a weaker English side. Pakistan endured a poor World Cup campaign where they only managed to win 4 out of 9 matches.
They finished 5th in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 Rankings table. Furthermore, this is also the third time since the 2011 edition that the 1992 Champions failed to reach the semi-final round of the World Cup. Meanwhile, India are waiting in absolute readiness to face a resurgent Blackcaps side in the first semi-final match on November 15 in Mumbai.
