Travis Head has a knack for grabbing attention, and this time it wasn’t just his bowling that had people talking. During the fourth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, he pulled off a celebration that had everyone scratching their heads.
After dismissing Rishabh Pant for 30, Head did a weird gesture—pointing one finger into the palm of his other hand, shaped like an O. Social media went crazy trying to figure out what it meant.
Thankfully, Aussie skipper Pat Cummins spilled the beans in the post-match press conference, clearing the air with a hilarious backstory.
AUS vs IND: Travis Head Celebration Explained By Pat Cummins
Cummins revealed that Head’s celebration was actually an inside joke.
“Oh, sorry! Yes, okay! I can explain that. His finger is so hot that he is going to put it in a cup of ice. Yes, that’s what it is,” Cummins said, laughing.
He added, “This started at the Gabba, I think. He got a wicket, went straight to the fridge, grabbed some ice, and put his finger in it. Then he walked past Lyno (Nathan Lyon), thinking it was the funniest thing ever. So, yeah, it’s just him being Head.”
Turns out, the Travis Head celebration was just another instance of his quirky sense of humour.
India Falls Apart In Final Session
While Head’s antics lit up social media, the game itself was all about Australia’s bowlers ripping through India. Chasing 340, India’s batting lineup fell apart spectacularly.
Seven wickets fell for just 34 runs in the final session as India went from dreaming of a draw to being bowled out for 155. Rohit Sharma (9 off 40) and Virat Kohli (5) couldn’t step up when it mattered most. Both
Aussie pacers were relentless with Pat Cummins leading from the front. He snagged 3/28 in 18 overs and proved once again why he is one of the best in the world. Scott Boland was equally impressive, with 3/39 in 16 overs, keeping the Indian batters guessing all through his spells.
Australia’s sensational 184-run win has given them a 2-1 lead in the five-match series, and India has some serious soul-searching to do. With stars like Rohit and Kohli failing to deliver game after game, questions loom over their form and approach.
