India came into the Asia Cup 2023 as favourites and they have stayed true to their billing by winning their 8th Asia Cup title. They ticked almost all the boxes in their winning campaign and this is India's first win in the multilateral competition after Asia Cup win in 2018. India's skipper Rohit Sharma was naturally quite elated with his team's performance and credited the whole team for their effort.

Rohit Sharma said that it was a special performance and added that the win shows the character of the team. He felt that they were clinical in the final and added that the seamers have really worked hard and it's great to see them rewarded. Rohit also looked quite emotional and said that they will cherish this Asia Cup's win for a long time.

"A special performance. To come out and play the way we did in the final shows the character of the team. It was a great start with the bowl and clinical finish with the bat.I was standing in the slips and something we take a lot of pride in. Our seamers have been working really hard and to be rewarded with this has been really good. It was clear in their mind and it was a clinical performance from all us. We will cherish this for a long time."

Rohit credited Siraj for the way he bowled and added that it was pleasing to see him swing the ball both ways. He was also very happy with how Bumrah shaped up and he felt that they achieved everything as a team that they wanted to.

"To start with, I didn't thought it was going to do this much. It comes down to an individual's skills. Credit to Siraj for the way he bowled. He swung the ball both ways and it was quite pleasing to see him perform. Not to forget, Bumrah who is coming back after a long time and is bowling well. We did everything could to achieve it as a team and quite pleasing to win games."

Rohit also mentioned that they are looking forward to the series against the Aussies and the World Cup and applauded the duo of Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya for playing well under pressure in the first game against Pakistan. Overall, he felt that different players stood up in different situations which is great sign going into the World Cup.

"We are really looking forward to the series coming up in India and the World Cup. In the first game against Pakistan, in pressure situations, the way Kishan and Pandya played was fantastic. Also KL and Virat with the hundreds. Gill is showing his class and is a batting freak. He has been playing really well. Different guys have been putting their hands up and stepping up at different times. It has been pleasing to see them perform."

India will next play a three-match ODI series against Australia that is scheduled to start on 22nd of September at Mohali.
