Pakistan, under Babar Azam, slumped to a huge seven-wicket defeat at the hands of India in their recent World Cup 2023 outing in Ahmedabad. After being invited to bat first by the tournament hosts, the 'Men in Green' lost their final eight wickets for just 36 runs to crumble from 155-2 to 191 all out within an hour.

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly came down hard on Pakistan following their humiliating defeat and claimed that the current team under Babar Azam cannot handle pressure with the bat. Ganguly also added that it will be difficult for Pakistan to recover from their batting meltdown against Indian bowlers.

Sourav Ganguly ridicules current Pakistan team

Sourav Ganguly scorned the Pakistan cricket team for their chaotic batting conduct in Ahmedabad against a ruthless Indian bowling attack. The former cricketer claimed that the current unit under Babar Azam is unlike the Pakistan team he encountered during his playing days. According to Ganguly, Pakistan's World Cup 2023 ensemble cannot overcome match pressure with the bat. While speaking with Times Now, he said:

“During our time Pakistan was a different team, this is not the type of Pakistan team we used to play. This team can’t handle the pressure during the batting. It will be hard for Pakistan to come back in this World Cup with this batting.”

Before their defeat to India, Pakistan registered confident wins against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka in their opening two matches of the 2023 World Cup in Hyderabad.

Currently placed among the top four sides on the points table, they will now face a resurgent Australian side on October 20. Their upcoming face-off will be played out at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
