Netizens School Islamabad United After PSL Franchise Calls IND's Win Over PAK An 'Upset'

Social media can be a funny, engaging, and cruel space. For the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, Islamabad United (IU) it became a nightmare, following their dig on Team India on Sunday.

Afghanistan managed the unthinkable and beat defending champions England in Delhi on October 15 in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, which unanimously was called an upset.

However, two-time PSL champions United in an attempt to look smart, coined India's win over Pakistan on Saturday as an upset as well, in their congratulatory post for Afghanistan, clubbing both the wins as upsets in their post on social media platform 'X'.

The netizens did not take the trolling lightly, and instantly trolled the PSL franchise back, making them remember Pakistan's disastrous record against India in WCs.

India led by Rohit Sharma, notched their eighth successive win over Pakistan in World Cups, beating their arch-rivals by a massive seven-wicket margin at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Following Pakistan's eighth loss, former Indian bowler S Sreesanth made a bold statement, asserting that India will always win against neighbours in an ICC event regardless of what XI they play.

"Mickey Arthur said we’ll meet in the final. I don’t think Pakistan can ever beat India in an ICC trophy and or in any other event considering the team they have. Even our C team can beat Pakistan’s main XI. Make an IPL XI of players who are not playing, even they can defeat the Pakistan team.”

Pakistan will next meet Australia on October 20 at Bangalore, while India will play Bangladesh on October 18 at Pune. While India leads the points table, Pakistan occupies the fourth spot.
