In an outpouring of admiration for Rishabh Pant's recent performances in the IPL 2024, former England captain Eoin Morgan described the Delhi Capitals' captain's recovery and form as nothing short of miraculous.

Following Pant's breathtaking fifty against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday, Morgan expressed his awe at Pant's ability to bounce back so strongly after a hiatus from competitive cricket.

The Delhi skipper's second consecutive half-century was a bright spot in an otherwise dismal match for his team, which saw them face a heavy defeat by 106 runs against Kolkata in Vizag.

Despite Delhi Capitals falling short in their chase of Kolkata's colossal total of 272, Rishabh Pant's fiery innings of 55 runs off just 25 deliveries was proof of his incredible spirit and character.

His explosive performance, especially the barrage of six boundaries off Venkatesh Iyernot only propelled Delhi past the 100-run mark but also showcased his exceptional batting brilliance.

While commenting for JioCinema, Morgan highlighted Pant's remarkable journey of recovery, pointing out not only his physical and mental progress but also his commendable leadership on the field.

"Rishabh Pant is certainly looking good and a lot of people, including myself, can't believe his progress both physically, mentally and his performance on the field. There is one thing getting your own body and mind right, there is another thing delivering on the field. He is leading his team and he is actually leading quite well,” said Morgan.

The Englishman further suggested that Pant's solo efforts needed to be complemented by stronger performances from his teammates.

He pointed out the necessity for other key players in the Delhi Capitals lineup, such as Mitchell Marsh, David Warner, and Prithvi Shaw, to step up and support their captain's endeavours.

“He needs a little bit of help alongside it. He needs to find more out of the likes of Mitchell Marsh, more runs from David Warner and a lot more from Prithvi Shaw,” added the erstwhile cricketer.

Pant, leading from the front, showcased his aggressive batting style right from the get-go. Coming in at a dismal situation with Delhi languishing at 33/4, he partnered with Tristan Stubbs to stitch together a crucial 93-run stand for the fifth wicket.

This effort kept Delhi's hopes alive, albeit briefly, in their uphill battle. Pant's innings was filled with nine boundaries, including five sixes, which showed his fearless approach to the game.

Despite the high-octane performance from Pant, Delhi Capitals could not withstand the pressure of the massive target set by KKR and were eventually bundled out for 166.
