Bangladesh, under the leadership of Litton Das, lost its three-match T20I series in UAE earlier this month despite winning the series opener by a comprehensive 27-run margin. Facing hosts at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh failed to defend totals of 205 and 162 in the next two T20Is, thus handing UAE a remarkable 2-1 series win over a Test playing nation.

As Bangladesh preps itself for a fresh and a sterner T20I challenge in Pakistan, captain Litton Das vowed of a stronger comeback as the team builds a roadmap for next year’s 2026 ICC T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

Litton Das admits Bangladesh “not up to the mark”

While speaking at the pre-series presser in Pakistan, Bangladesh T20I captain Litton Das admitted that his team was “not up to the mark” in the UAE. However, the cricketer added that the impending series against Pakistan will present a new challenge, adding that he has the belief of Bangladesh beating “any team in the world”.

He said:

“We were not up to the mark in the last series. This is a new series, a new challenge. We know where we did well and where we did badly in the past. We will have to apply that in the game. This is a different ball game. We, however, have the belief that we can beat any team in the world. We have to play good cricket. We are not focused on the opposition. I am not only focused on the team's result, which doesn't always come your way.”

Litton Das, who aggregated just 65 runs in the three innings against UAE, also emphasised the importance of his own role with the bat. He added:

“I know how important my batting role is in this team. I will try my best to stay consistent. We have some good form players in the team. T20 needs a combined batting effort, so if we can do well together, we will have chance of good results.”

The series between Pakistan and Bangladesh will launch on Wednesday, May 28 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The venue will also host the second and third T20I matches on May 30 and June 1.
