The Australian pacer, Mitchell Starc, has heaped praise on Pakistan batter Babar Azam ahead of the three-match Test series between the two countries, starting on December 14 in Perth.

Mitchell Starc stated that Babar Azam has all kinds of shots in his arsenal and is capable of taking the game away from the opposition. He also mentioned that he is the one the Australian team will look to keep quiet.

Here’s what Mitchell Starc said on Babar Azam:

“Babar Azam has got a great batting temperament and has got all the shots. He can build an inning and can also be ultra aggressive. Babar has the ability to take the game away from you. He's one of the best and we hope to keep Babar quiet on this tour.” 

When it comes to Tests in Australia, Babar Azam has some ground to cover. Having participated in just five Tests from 2016 to 2019, his numbers are not overly favourable.

In five Tests played Down Under, the former Pakistan captain has amassed just 278 runs at an average of 27.08 and a strike rate of 60.17, with one hundred and one half-century to his name.

A silver lining is that Babar can now focus solely on his batting without the burden of captaincy. With some strong batting, the flamboyant batter has the chance to boost his numbers in Australia.
