“Body feels great…”: Pat Cummins 'good to go' for third Ashes Test after recovery

Australian captain Pat Cummins has seemingly confirmed his availability for the third Test of the ongoing 2025-26 Ashes series at home against England. The legendary fast bowler was forced to miss the first two Tests as he was still recovering from the back injury he suffered a few months ago.

His absence prompted Steve Smith to become Australia’s stand-in captain, leading his side to an emphatic eight-wicket victory in the series-opener in Perth last month.

Pat Cummins to have one more training session before Adelaide trip

While speaking with Fox Sports amid the second Test of the 2025-26 Ashes series, regular Australian captain Pat Cummins claimed that he is “good to go” to Adelaide for the third Test next week barring any hiccups. The cricketer added that he will have one more bowling session in the nets on December 7 before taking flight for the South Australian capital.

Pat Cummins said:

“I'll have one more bowl tomorrow in the nets and then we'll go to Adelaide and have a bowl there. Barring any hiccups, I'll be good to go. The body feels great.”

Pat Cummins also added that he was nearly fit enough to play the ongoing pink-ball affair at the Gabba in Brisbane, however, the Australian selectors and the team management did not want to jeopardise his injury so quickly after the recovery. He added:

“It felt a bit too acute and didn't really feel fair on the other bowlers. We thought it didn't feel like the right Test match to take that risk, so kick it down the road for a week.”

Pat Cummins, a veteran of 71 Tests, has not played a single competitive match in any format since Australia’s three-match Test series in the West Indies back in July this year.

The third Test of the 2025-26 Ashes series will be hosted by the Adelaide Oval between December 17 and December 21.
