India came into the 3rd T20I vs Australia with a different playing XI, as Harshit Rana was dropped for Arshdeep Singh. And fans reacted swiftly to his development on social media.

Rana has been under scrutiny since head coach Gautam Gambhir gave him a long rope in all three formats.

After he failed to make a noticeable impact in the 2nd T20I held at MCG, the management decided to cut his rope short.

Fans in disbelief as Harshit Rana gets dropped

While some believe Harshit Rana is being backed due to favouritism from head coach Gautam Gambhir, the narrative shifted in the 3rd T20I held at Hobart.

Rana was dropped from the playing XI to accommodate Arshdeep Singh Rana, and the unprecedented change left fans confused and surprised.

"- Tilak Varma will play at 3 - Harshit Rana Out - Arshdeep Singh In - Sanju Samson Out - Jitesh Sharma In. Finally, our voice has reached BCCI, and India is playing the deserving XI. The match hasn’t even started, and I can bet this team will win it one sided." - @SelflessCricket

Interestingly, Harshit has been the leading wicket-taker of the series with 6 wickets in 3 games. But his high average of 20.83 has been a worrying sign.

In contrast, Arshdeep Singh, the highest wicket-taker for India in T20Is, is much more economical with the advantage of the left-arm angle.

That being said, apart from Harshit Rana, Sanju Samson was also dropped for Jitesh Sharma, and Kuldeep Yadav will also make way for Washington Sundar. Notably, Australia are already leading the series 1-0.
