Young Indian pace sensation Mayank Yadav is nearing full recovery ahead of the IPL 2026 season. So far, the speedster has spent nearly a year being sidelined amid his injury struggles.
It is worth noting that lower back stress fracture limited Mayank’s role in IPL 2025 last year to just two matches for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) franchise. The 23-year-old is currently grinding out at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.
Mayank Yadav fires warning shots as per BCCI recovery update
A BCCI official recently dropped massive recovery updates regarding Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fast bowler Mayank Yadav. After spending months at the CoE in Bengaluru, the official stated that the youngster is already progressing well and is currently bowling at 90 percent intensity.
While speaking with the PTI, the BCCI official reportedly said, “Mayank Yadav is progressing well through his rehabilitation and has successfully achieved bowling at 90 per cent intensity, with a current workload of 18 overs per week. He has also demonstrated significant improvements in strength and conditioning, enabling him to approach the maximal fitness levels required for pace bowling.”
The BCCI official further added that Mayank Yadav is expected to achieve 100 percent progress in the coming weeks, saying: “Over the forthcoming weeks, he is expected to progress to bowling at 100 per cent intensity, alongside the integration of high-intensity fielding activities, subject to ongoing symptom tolerance and monitoring.”
Mayank Yadav, despite playing just a couple of matches for the LSG back in IPL 2025, and sustaining expensive spells in both games, was retained by the franchise for the upcoming IPL 2026 season.
His struggles with injuries also prompted the BCCI selection committee to rule him out of national contention following India’s T20I series against Bangladesh back in October 2024.
