'Baby Bowler Na Kahu Toh Kya Kahu?' Abdul Razzaq Once Again Trolls Jasprit Bumrah

Former Pakistani all-rounder Abdul Razzaq recently recalled his controversial statement regarding Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, whom he had previously dubbed a 'baby bowler.'

In a 2019 interview with Cricket Pakistan, Razzaq had remarked:"I have played against great bowlers like Glenn Mcgrath and Wasim Akram, so Bumrah is a baby bowler in front of me, and I could have easily dominated and attacked him."

Razzaq was prompted to reconsider his remarks made in 2019, particularly in light of Bumrah's impressive performance, where he claimed 3/32 while defending a modest total of 230 against England in Lucknow on October 29.

"Whatever I said, it was interpreted in the wrong way. The question was how do you see Glenn McGrath, Wasim Akram, Jasprit Bumrah, Shoaib Akhtar. Unke samne, woh baby bowler hai (He is a baby bowler in front of them) Maine ye kabhi nahi kaha ki Bumrah acha bowler nhi hai. Par jab aap unhe Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath se compare karenge to unhe baby bowler na kahu to aur kya kahu. (I have never said that he is not a good bowler. But if you compare him with Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath, you tell me if I am wrong in calling him baby bowler)."

"Jab main team main aaya tha, main bhi bachcha tha Wasim Akram ke samne (When I came into the Pakistan team, I was also a baby in front of Wasim Akram)," Abdul Razzaq on the 'Hasna Mana Hai' show on Geo News.

After a year of injury-induced absence, Bumrah made a triumphant return during the Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka, where he showcased his exceptional bowling skills and proved why he's such a crucial asset with the ball.

In the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, Bumrah has been nothing short of exceptional, amassing an impressive tally of 14 wickets in six matches at an average of 15.07.

His remarkable performance has been a pivotal factor in India's triumph in the tournament, positioning him as the third-highest wicket-taker. He stands just behind Pakistan's Shaheen Shah Afridi and Australia's Adam Zampa, both of whom have claimed 16 wickets each.

Although it may be premature to draw comparisons between Bumrah and legendary bowlers like Wasim Akram and Glenn McGrath, it's undeniable that Bumrah has already earned a place among the cricketing greats.
