Ever since Babar Azam was re-appointed as Pakistan’s captain in the last week of March, there has been constant chatter among the cricket experts about whether the decision was right or wrong.

The 29-year-old has specifically got the leadership duties in ODIs and T20Is, which means Shaheen Shah Afridi, who was announced as their skipper in the shortest format of the game, won’t be the leader of the pack any longer.

Fans were curious about what could be the reason behind Shaheen’s short stint as Pakistan’s captain. And PCB Selector Wahab Riaz cleared all the doubts regarding Shaheen’s captaincy sacking, and as the matter of fact, even explained why Babar was the chosen one for the T20 World Cup while announcing Pakistan’s squad for New Zealand series.

Here's what PCB Selector Wahab Riaz Said:

“We wanted to manage Shaheen Afridi's workload because he's our main strike bowler and we need him completely fit for the World Cup. Babar Azam is the most experienced captain in this squad, obviously, he hasn't won any trophy but still, due to his experience, we thought Babar is the right choice for captaincy at this moment."

New Zealand's tour of Pakistan will get underway on April 18 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. This will be a five-match T20I series, with the series to finish on April 27 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
