Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a young and talented cricketer from Rajasthan Royals (RR), recently made headlines after his remarkable debut in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). At just 14 years old, he impressed everyone with his performance. However, during his debut match against Lucknow Super Giants, some people thought they saw him crying after getting out.
After being dismissed, Suryavanshi was seen rubbing his eyes as he walked back to the dugout, leading many to assume he was heartbroken.
After the match against Punjab Kings on Sunday, some of the Punjab players teased Suryavanshi, thinking he had cried. However, Suryavanshi firmly denied it and explained the real reason behind his eye irritation. The young batter later explained that it wasn’t the case at all.
What Did Vaibhav Suryavanshi Say?
In a video posted by the Royals on social media, Suryavanshi shared:
“When did I cry? Let me explain. My eyes were hurting. After I got out, I looked at the screen, and the bright light hit my eyes, making them blink. When I walked out, people were asking why I was crying. But I wasn’t. I was just walking, and the light got into my eyes.”
In the game, Suryavanshi made a strong statement by hitting sixes against bowlers like Avesh Khan and Shardul Thakur, scoring 34 runs off 20 balls. So far, he has scored 195 runs in six matches with an impressive average of 32.5 and a strike rate of 219.1.
Rajasthan Royals’ Tough Run In IPL 2025
Despite Suryavanshi’s individual brilliance, Rajasthan Royals have had a challenging season. They suffered their ninth loss of the IPL 2025 after facing Punjab Kings in Jaipur. Although RR are out of the playoff race, Suryavanshi’s performances have been a bright spot for the team.
