The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been widely appreciated for his captaincy style as he backs his players despite poor form and performance. Being the most successful captain in the Indian Premier League and leading the Indian cricket team towards multiple tournaments, Rohit Sharma has always shown the importance of boosting the confidence of his squad members.

Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, the Indian team has recently drawn the two match Test series against South Africa and are currently participating in England’s tour of India. After the two Test matches, India and England stand at one win each. Ahead of the third Test match, captain Rohit Sharma talked about making his players feel valued and the importance of clearly communicating their role to them in the team.

Despite multiple attempts, Rohit Sharma has not played a noteworthy knock ever since the failure in the final match of ICC ODI World Cup 2023. The attacking opening batter has admitted to focusing on his technical skills while keeping a self belief to challenge himself in the difficult conditions of the game.

Rohit Sharma on challenging himself in upcoming Tests

At a promotional event held in Mumbai, Rohit Sharma said, "As a leader, it's crucial to instill confidence in players and make them feel valued regardless of their role in the team. Each player's contribution is essential to the team's success, whether they play ten balls at No. 6 or 7. I make it a point to interact with players individually, understand their concerns, and provide reassurance. Building trust and confidence is paramount, especially in challenging situations."

"Confidence stems from rigorous preparation and mastering skills. I thrive on the challenge of starting innings in adverse conditions and rely on extensive training to bolster my self-belief," Sharma further added.
