India’s star all-rounder Deepti Sharma is expected to be the most sought-after player for most teams as the Women’s Premier League (WPL) mega-auctions for the 2026 season approach soon. The player auctions are set to begin on Thursday, November 27th.

Former Indian cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy also believes Deepti will be in high demand during the auctions. She spoke highly of her all-round abilities and explained the reason why teams will go after her on the 27th of November.

“Deepti Sharma is a proven match-winner from earlier WPL seasons, performing brilliantly with both bat and ball. She also won the Player of the Tournament award in the recently concluded Women’s ODI World Cup. Her demand will definitely be high in the mega-auction, and every franchise will be watching her closely,” she said on JioHotstar.

Another former Indian cricketer, Anjum Chopra, also shared this opinion and revealed the teams that could be interested in her in the auctions. According to her, Gujarat Giants will be the most interested in her and even Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz could also go after her.

“Gujarat Giants should definitely consider Deepti Sharma in the mega-auction. Delhi Capitals might also target her as an Indian player who strengthens both batting and bowling. UP Warriorz could be the third team interested after Gujarat and Delhi in acquiring her services,” Chopra said.

Deepti Sharma’s performances in WPL

Deepti has had some major performances in the WPL, with her best season for UP Warriorz coming in 2024. She had scored 295 runs in eight innings at an average of 98.33, which included three half-centuries. She had also taken 10 wickets in that season with an economy rate of 7.23.

More recently, she also had an outstanding season in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, where she guided India to their first-ever world title. Her 22 wickets and 215 runs, including three fifties, in the season also earned her the Player of the Tournament Award. She saved her best performance for the final, where she scored 58 runs-a-ball and also took a five-wicket haul.
