South Africa arrived in India for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, beating five-time champions Australia, in a close-fought ODI series 3-2.

The Proteas have always been labeled as under-performers in the showpiece event, having not won a single World Cup title, despite reaching the semi-finals in 1992, 1999, 2011, and 2015.

However, this time South African players are high on confidence and want to create history in India, with batter David Miller echoing similar sentiments to Kagiso Rabada. Talking to BBC, Miller explained how the South African team wants to do something special this time and create history.

Here's what Miller said

We genuinely believe that we can do something special. The reality is we haven't won a World Cup, so there's no point brushing that under the carpet. But personally I don't live with those things on my shoulders. The past is the past. It doesn't impact me at all.

It's about what's in front of you, the next ball, your next moment. I know the other guys are in the same mindset. We're looking at it as a chance to create history. What a brilliant opportunity this is. If we play well, we know we've got a chance,”

Several South African players have cast knowledge of playing in Indian conditions, which will help them get adjusted quickly and prepare accordingly.

South Africa opens their World Cup 2023 campaign on October 7 against Sri Lanka in Delhi. Temba Bavuma and Co. will take on New Zealand today in their second warm-up as well.
