The Ashes 2025-26 is scheduled to start on November 21, in Perth. The arch-rivals, Australia and England, will clash in a 5-match Test series, hoping to make the most of it. Since the series falls under the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle, it's equally crucial for both teams.
Meanwhile, former Australian cricketer David Warner made some bold predictions ahead of the series. The Ashes will be played in Australia this time, giving them a slight advantage over their opponents. The last time the series was held in England, it ended in a draw.
David Warner confident about Australia's win in Ashes 2025-26
Australia, led by Pat Cummins, have emerged as a strong team in red-ball cricket. Moreover, in their own home ground, they have an exceptional record. While speaking at Fox Cricket's season launch, former cricketer David Warner backed his home team and predicted that they would win the series 4-0.
"4-nil. It's going to be a great series. All dependant on the captain (Pat Cummins). If the captain doesn't play, they might win one game. If Cummo's there, 4-nil. If not, they probably win one game only," said David Warner.
Surprisingly, England haven't won a single Test match in Australia since 2011. While the English players are in red-hot form lately, it will still be interesting to see how they adjust to the conditions and perform in the series.
David Warner backs Sam Konstas
Sam Konstas made his debut against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy back in 2024. He hasn't been able to cement his position in the team, but Warner has encouraged the selectors to give him a chance in the upcoming series. The former player opened up about his belief in Konstas and also mentioned that he can "build innings".
"I don't think we've seen exactly what we know Sam Konstas can do. Last year he probably got overwhelmed by the occasion and we saw some very 'highlight' cricket. I've seen him build innings, I've seen him play some fantastic innings and I'd like to see him go back to just doing that," added Warner.
