After a dramatic Test at the Oval between England and India, where the visitors sealed a six-run victory, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh gave his verdict. Addressing the previous claims made by former English cricketers, Harbhajan debunked those scoreline predictions and gave his opinion.
Harbhajan Singh Calls Out All Former English Cricketers
In a game of very fine margins, India came out on top at the fifth Test at the Oval, where their spirited performance, especially by Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, helped India level the series with the hosts England in the most dramatic finale.
Following the game, former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, on his YouTube channel, addressed that this team did the most fantastic job as they claimed a draw with the scoreline showing two each.
However, he then pointed out that many former English cricketers, including Michael Vaughan, predicted that the series scoreline would read 3-1 or 3-0 by the end of five matches; however, that was not the case.
“Yes, the scoreline shows 2-2. Michael Vaughan and many others predicted that it would be 3-1 or 3-0. I would tell them to look towards their side a bit and where England cricket stands. Our warriors have shown the level of Indian cricket,” Harbhajan Singh said on his YouTube channel.
He then asked the former cricketers to look at where English cricket is at the moment, as they couldn't even win the series despite playing against the young Indian side.
Young Team Made History, Believes Harbhajan
Harbhajan then gracefully praised the Indian side for their outstanding effort in the series and believed that, without the senior players, this young Indian team has created history in the UK.
“Unbelievable Test match and the way India have played the series, they deserve praise. When the team went to England, many people said it was young and there were no seniors. But see how the young team created history,” he concluded.
The fact that India came out on top out of nowhere when the chips were down is, in fact, that this young team turned out to be the "gun team," as said by Indian skipper Shubman Gill during the post-match presentation.
India, after levelling the series with England, have gained some crucial points in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle and will now be aiming for another WTC title final, aiming to gain some more points in the upcoming games, with skipper Gill at the helm of things.
