Injured Wicket-Keeper Rishabh Pant Posts An Emotional Message
It was a game of very fine margins at the Oval in London, where India somehow secured a six-run victory as they defended 374 in the final innings. England, at one stage, were cruising, but the determined effort from Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna pulled India back into the game. The duo shared nine wickets between them, shaking England and knocking them over for 367.
The game went into day 5, where India choked England in the end and squeezed a win out of nowhere by just six runs. After India's victory, injured wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant, who broke his foot in the fourth Test at Manchester after trying a reverse sweep against Chris Woakes and getting ruled out of the series, posted an emotional message on his Instagram account.
Praising his side, Pant mentioned that he is proud of his team and revealed that his country means everything to him, which is why they all put everything on the line when it comes to their nation, as displayed by India on the field with their incredible effort.
"A tour that asked a lot and gave even more in return. Proud of how this team stood up, adapted and kept fighting. Representing the country means everything to us, it takes everything out of you, but we take pride in that. Big thanks to our incredible support staff and the fans who stood by us throughout. This team is hungry, united and here to take Indian cricket forward," Pant posted on Instagram.
Moreover, Pant then thanked the fans and support staff while mentioning that the current Indian side under the leadership of Shubman Gill is hungry, ready to roar, and take Indian Cricket forward after the retirement of multiple Indian stalwarts.
Rishabh Pant's Rememberable Outing In The UK
Pant, before getting injured, could only feature in seven innings, but scored 479 runs at a marvellous average of 68.43. He smashed two tons and three half-centuries to help India with the bat in this series.
Thanks to India's effort after being 2-1 down in the series, this win in the final Test helped them draw level with England. They will now share the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy after the score line reads 2-2 by the end of the 5th and final Test at the Oval.
