November 19th will forever be etched in Indian cricket's history as the Rohit Sharma-led team lost the World Cup final against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium. This was a painful loss since the Men in Blue had won 10 matches in a row and were the favourites to clinch the World title.
What motivated India to take revenge Vs Australia in T20 World Cup?
However, the Indian side produced their worst game of the tournament as Travis Head's century led to India's crushing defeat. After the loss, India were gunning for revenge against the Aussies and the chance came in the T20 World Cup in 2024.
In the game, Rohit Sharma scored a sublime 92 off 41 balls as the Indian side got their revenge by thrashing Australia. In a video released by Star Sports, Rohit Sharma discussed the famous game against Australia and stated that since the Aussies spoiled their November 19th plans, the Indian team were eager for a revenge during the T20 World Cup.
"We were angry and this thing was in the back of everyone's mind that the Australians ruined our November 19th. Not only ours but the day was spoiled for the entire nation. This is when we thought that we should give a gift to them in the T20 World Cup," Rohit said in the video.
Rohit Sharma's perfect revenge against Australia
India met against Australia in the Super 8 match and this was a do-or-die affair for the Aussies as the team had to win the match to go through to the semis. However, Rohit walked out to bat with just one thing on his mind - revenge.
He played each shot with precision and every shot which was hit out of the ground was a statement made in anger by the then India T20I skipper. Nobody could forget the six he slammed out of the ground to Pat Cummins, the captain of the Australian team that defeated India on November 19.
Rohit scored 92 as India posted 205/5 and won the match by 24 runs as India reached the semis and took their revenge.
