The conclusion of the 2024 T20 World Cup coincided with the curtains falling on the illustrious careers of several cricketing legends. As fans all over the world bid farewell to these stalwarts, here at OneCricket, we take a look at all players who hung up their boots after the tournament.

Players who retired after T20 World Cup 2024:-

Amidst the euphoria of India’s 2024 T20 World Cup win, legendary batter Virat Kohli announced his retirement from T20Is, thus bringing an end to his 125-match career on a fitting note.

The cricketer punched out an influential knock of 59-ball 76 in the final, bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ award and lifted the coveted T20 trophy for the first time in his international career.

Virat Kohli retired with 4,188 runs to his name; thus, making his exit from T20Is as the second highest run-maker in format’s history.

2. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma, who shot himself to unprecedented stardom in the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup back in 2007, also announced his retirement from the format following the conclusion of the 2024 event in West Indies.

The legendary opener smacked successive match-winning half-centuries against Australia and England in the tournament, before registering a rare failure in the final against South Africa to cap his career with 4,231 runs, the highest among all batters in T20I history.

Rohit Sharma also concluded his career with a T20 World Cup trophy to his name, thus becoming only the second Indian captain after MS Dhoni to do so.

3. David Warner

Australian opener David Warner set the 2024 T20 World Cup as his overall retirement date earlier this year itself. After signing off from ODIs with a 2023 World Cup win and exiting from Tests with a series win over Pakistan in January, the cricketer failed to sign off from T20Is on a similar note, considering the Australian team crashed in the Super Eights stage with defeats at the hands of Afghanistan and India.

Regardless, David Warner’s glittering T20I career consists of 3,277 runs, forming a part of his 19,000-run international tally.

4. Ravindra Jadeja

India’s all-round stalwart Ravindra Jadeja bid adieu to his T20I journey after lifting the 2024 World Cup, thus, concurrently making the big announcement alongside fellow veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Jadeja, who played his first T20I back in February 2009, capped his 20-overs international career with 74 matches. The cricketer stacked up 515 runs with the bat and harvested 54 wickets via his left-arm spin to go down as one of the greatest all-rounders in India’s T20I history.

5. Trent Boult

New Zealand’s thunderbolt fast bowler Trent Boult played the last of his 61 T20Is for New Zealand when he took field against PNG at Trinidad in a Group C match of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

While the ‘Black Caps’ agonized a humiliating first-round exit, the speedster collected an impressive tournament haul of nine wickets from just four innings.

Trent Boult, who was one of the leading wicket-takers during New Zealand’s runners-up campaign from 2021, brought down curtains to his T20I career with 83 wickets in his register at an impressive average of just 21.43.

6. Mahmudullah

Former Bangladesh T20I captain Mahmudullah retired as one of the most-capped cricketers in format’s history. Having made his debut back in September 2007 in one of Bangladesh’s earliest T20I matches, the all-rounder went on to feature in 138 matches for his country, minting 2,394 runs and taking 40 wickets in the process.
