In the modern-day cricket, T20 is the most popular format. It is even used as a way to enter a country where there's a need to introduce cricket. In this busy world, people don't get much time to watch the entire ODI game or an entire Test match until and unless it is a part of an ICC tournament.

The Indian team is the most successful in the shortest format with the highest number of wins till date. With this much success in the past 16-17 years, there are a lot of players who have made this possible. The Indian team has been unbeaten for a while now when it comes to T20I bilaterals at home.

In the recently concluded series, Ruturaj Gaikwad comes out on the top as the leading run scorer in the series with 223 runs including a century as well. He has joined Virat Kohli in the elite list of most runs in a T20I bilateral series.

Let's look at the top 3 Indian batters to have scored the most runs in a single T20I series.

The run machine of the Indian team, Virat Kohli is on the top of this list of scoring most runs in a single T20I series.  He is the only batter to have scored over 4000 runs in the T20 Internationals and is still acing the format.

In 2021, when England toured India for an all-format tour, Virat had to perform well as there was T20 World Cup was on the schedule later that year. In the first T20I, he was dismissed for a duck by the leg spinner Adil Rashid. But the way he made his comeback, scoring 73* of just 49 deliveries was nothing short of exceptional. He went on to score 77 in the next game as well keeping his consistency intact, but got out on 1 in the fourth game.

The series came to a decider, the fifth T20I, Virat opened the innings with Rohit and went on to score 80 runs off just 52 deliveries, helping India post a mammoth total of 224 runs. He eventually ended up being the Player of the Series, scoring 231 runs.

KL Rahul is another impeccable gun that India have been relying on for the past few years now. He has the ability to score runs at an immaculate strike rate in the shortest format. He has already smashed over 2200 T20I runs and has been an amazing opening batter for India.

Back in 2020, when India toured New Zealand after the ODI World Cup, KL Rahul was in impeccable touch and scored a truckload of runs for himself. In the first game, he smashed 56 runs of just 27 deliveries, carrying on the momentum, he smashed a half-century in the second game as well.

In the remaining three games, his scores were 27 off 19, 39 off 26 and 45 off 33, which made him the player of the series with 224 runs. He even helped India win two Super Over games in the same series.

The young Ruturaj Gaikwad is undoubtedly the future of Indian cricket. He is one of the most technically sound batters and has the skill set to excel in all three formats of the game. He has only featured in the T20Is and ODIs for the Indian team so far, but now he has made his place in the Indian squad for the South Africa tour in all three formats.

The right-hander was not performing up to his standards for the Indian team until the recently concluded series against Australia. After getting out without playing a single delivery in the first game, he played an anchoring knock of 58 runs in the second game. Continuing his form, he went on to smash his maiden international ton but it went in vain as his 123 was not enough against Maxwell's Big Show.

He could not score many in the next two games, but his 123-run kock landed him in this elite list as his aggregate runs in the series were 223.
