5. Ravichandran Ashwin – 63 wickets

Legendary Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin nabbed 63 wickets in 14 Tests of the WTC 2023-25 before confirming his international retirement towards the closing stages of the cycle. The cricketer held an impressive bowling average of 24.55, marking the second best among all spinners with more than 50 wickets to their names behind teammate Ravindra Jadeja.

Ashwin picked up five five-wicket hauls in the process, including two in West Indies back in July 2023 to start off India’s WTC 2023-25 campaign, and three more match-winning ones against England (twice) and Bangladesh, all at home in 2024.

4. Nathan Lyon – 66 wickets

Nathan Lyon finished the WTC 2023-25 cycle as its most successful spinner with 66 wickets in just 30 innings spanning 17 Tests. While the legendary Australian failed to leave a mark in the final against South Africa, Lyon played an influential role in taking his team to the title clash. His match-winning figures of 10-108 across both innings of the Wellington Test against New Zealand in February 2024 took Australia 1-0 up in the Trans-Tasman Trophy.

Nathan Lyon also snared 14 wickets in Sri Lanka from just two Tests earlier this year to script Australia’s 2-0 series victory.

3. Mitchell Starc – 77 wickets

Australian thunderbolt Mitchell Starc bagged 77 wickets in 19 Tests of WTC 2023-25, including five of them in the high-octane final match against South Africa at Lord’s in London in June 2025. Starc’s fearsome pace tormented the Indians throughout the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy series at home, where he picked up 18 wickets, even featuring his career-best figures of 6-48 at the Adelaide Oval.

The legendary Australian paceman also finished the 2023 Ashes as its highest wicket-taker in England with 23 scalps from just seven innings at an impressive average of 27.08.

2. Jasprit Bumrah – 77 wickets

Statistically, Indian speed demon Jasprit Bumrah finished the WTC 2023-25 cycle as its best bowler by a landslide. Soaring past the 150 and 200-wicket career marks during the two-year cycle, Bumrah harvested 77 wickets in just 28 innings, the least among top four most successful bowlers of the championship.

Moreover, the Indian pace spearhead also maintained a controlled average of 15.09, the lowest among all bowlers with more than 50 wickets in the cycle, let alone above 75. Furthermore, Jasprit Bumrah’s strike rate of 30.67, also the best among all with 50-plus wickets, ensured Team India was always in the hunt for a wicket.

In five Tests of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia alone, the 31-year-old harvested 32 wickets from just nine innings at a proficient average of 13.06.

1. Pat Cummins – 80 wickets

Australian captain Pat Cummins blitz past Jasprit Bumrah with an electric six-fer in the WTC 2023-25 final against South Africa. Overall, Cummins concluded his championship with a collection of 80 wickets from just 18 Tests at an average of 23.48, and with six five-fers, the most among all bowlers of the championship.

Notably, the Australian great did so while shouldering the responsibilities of a captain, taking Australia into its second successive WTC final. The speedster picked up 25 wickets in just five matches of the series against India, and 19 against Pakistan at home during the 2023-24 season.
