The Irani Cup has witnessed countless legendary performances over its illustrious history. From emerging talents to seasoned veterans, batters have time and again used this platform to etch their names into the record books.

Among these iconic figures, Sarfaraz Khan recently achieved a significant milestone, becoming the first-ever Mumbai batter to record a double-century in the competition's 65-year history.

As Sarfaraz continues to add to his remarkable resume, it's time to reflect on the top five highest individual scores in Irani Cup.

At number five is the most recent addition to the Irani Cup's hall of fame: Sarfaraz Khan. In what was an unforgettable performance, Sarfaraz became the first Mumbai batter to score a double century in the tournament's storied history.

The prodigious batter lit up the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow with his sublime knock of 221* off 276 balls, decorated with 25 fours and 4 sixes. His innings not only catapulted him to the top of Mumbai's Irani Cup records but also surpassed the long-standing scores of Mumbai greats like Ramnath Parkar (194*) and Ajinkya Rahane (191).

His double-century made him only the 11th player in Irani Cup history to achieve this feat and the fourth to do so while not representing the Rest of India (ROI).

4. Surinder Amarnath – 235* (Delhi vs Rest of India, Delhi, 1980)

Surinder Amarnath, the son of the great Lala Amarnath, was a man of quiet composure and immense talent. His 235* for Delhi against the Rest of India in 1980 is etched in history as one of the most exceptional innings the tournament has ever seen.

Occupying the crease for a gruelling 600 minutes, Amarnath was the epitome of patience. He toyed with the bowling attack, biding his time like a hawk waiting for the perfect moment to swoop.

His unbeaten knock still remains the highest score for Delhi in the Irani Cup, and for good reason—it was an innings where he truly stood the test of time and helped Delhi win the title.

3. Pravin Amre – 246 (Rest of India vs Bengal, Bengaluru, 1990)

His innings kept the opposition bowlers on their toes. By the time his stay at the crease came to an end, Amre had left a lasting imprint on the match, guiding his side to a dominant total of 737/7.

Amre’s knock along with Shastri’s heroics helped Mumbai win the match based on first innings after enforcing follow-on.
