Born in Dubai and having honed his craft under the legendary Saqlain Mushtaq, Kerala’s young spinner, Mohamed Enaan's journey is the stuff of dreams. The 17-year-old leg-spinner is making waves in the India U-19 team, and his recent heroics against Australia U-19 have cemented his status as a rising star in Indian cricket.

Enaan's incredible performance at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday, where he claimed a stunning six-wicket haul, has grabbed headlines, leaving the Aussies reeling.

Who is Mohamed Enaan?

It all began when Enaan had the privilege to learn the ropes of spin bowling from the master himself, Saqlain Mushtaq, during a coaching camp in the UAE.

The former Pakistan off-spinner's golden advice stuck with Enaan: "You have a different action, so continue what you are doing. There is nothing much to change."

 These words of wisdom did a world of good for the young spinner, who followed Saqlain's teachings to the letter, reaping the rewards of his diligence.

A Fifer to Remember - Enaan’s Magic on the Red Soil

In the ongoing India U-19 vs Australia U-19 multiday series, Enaan has been the linchpin of India's bowling attack. After picking up 3/48 in the first innings and helping India restrict Australia to 293, Enaan spun a web around the Aussie batters in the second innings, claiming a magnificent fifer.

His final figures of 6/79 from 23 overs left Australia bowled out for 214, giving India a target of 212 to win the match. It was a performance that had the Aussies on the ropes, as Enaan’s variations and control proved too much for them to handle.


A Journey from Dubai to Thrissur 

Enaan’s road to success wasn’t paved overnight. Five years ago, his father, Shanavas Moidutty, made the crucial decision to send his family back to Kerala from Dubai to ensure Enaan received systematic cricket training.

Acting on the advice of coaches who saw potential in the young boy, Enaan's father sacrificed his job at Dubai Airport to give his son the best opportunity to hone his skills.

Fast forward to today, Enaan has been training under the watchful eyes of former Kerala captain P. Balachandran at the Athreya Cricket Academy. Under his guidance, Enaan blossomed into a leg-spinning allrounder, claiming 24 wickets and scoring over 200 runs in the Cooch Behar Trophy last season.

A Call-Up to Remember

Enaan’s efforts didn’t go unnoticed. His strong performances earned him a place in the Indian U-19 one-day and four-day teams for the home series against Australia. 

This call-up is proof of his hard work and dedication. At just 17, Enaan is already making a name for himself as one of India’s most promising leg-spinners. 

With his unique action, disciplined work ethic, and invaluable guidance from legends like Saqlain Mushtaq, Enaan is set to become a household name in Indian cricket. 

As the Aussies found out the hard way, this young prodigy is more than capable of making batsmen dance to his tune.
