Yastika Bhatia continued her good form for the Mumbai Indians' Sunday night encounter against UP Warriorz in the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023. Bhatia, along with Hayley Matthews, provided their side with a swift start chasing 160.

Bhatia slammed her second-consecutive 40+ score and has so far amassed 107 runs and sits fourth in the list of run-getters for Mumbai this season. Speaking to the Mumbai Indians website, the 22-year-old revealed that opening the innings suits her more as compared to the middle order.

The Nita Ambani-run franchise  shelled out INR 1.50 crore for Bhatia, who had a INR 40 lakh base price.  The wicketkeeper-batter has played one Test, 19 ODIs and 15 T20Is since 2021 for India.

Here's what Bhatia said

"Getting a chance to open the innings feels even better. Since childhood, I have always opened the batting. It suits me. I enjoy batting at the top of the order as I get more balls to build my innings. I also concentrate on the process and not on the result,

"From day one, our coaches and support staff have told us to play with freedom and express ourselves. There is no pressure on us. They back us so that we can improve ourselves."

Bhatia also spoke about Matthews, who she said often focused on strike rotation and playing with a straight bat.

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will meet Gujarat Giants on Tuesday, aiming to win their fifth match in a row.
