Ahead of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023, the Mumbai Indians had a plethora of stars. However, no one would have predicted the rise of Saika Ishaque, who has bamboozled opponents match after match. Ishaque is the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing WPL 12, miles ahead of second-placed Sophie Ecclestone (8).

The left-arm spinner once again changed the course of the match for Mumbai Indians in the tie against UP Warriorz last evening, claiming the crucial wickets of Alyssa Healy and Tahlia McGrath in the same over to end with sensational figures of 3 for 33.

Mumbai Indians skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who ended up guiding her side to a comfortable eight-wicket win, scoring an unbeaten 53*, praised the 27-year-old for a match-turning over.

Further talking about Mumbai's chase, Kaur also lauded Natalie Sciver-Brunt for taking the pressure off her in the middle during their 106-run stand for the third wicket.

Here's what Kaur said

"Saika's over was the turning point. She has been the one taking responsibility. These things happen, but I have trust on her. That is why I brought her back and she got crucial wickets. Very happy with the performance. I can't be thankful enough, the way we are playing and we are gelling together."

With four wins out of four, the Mumbai Indians most likely have one foot in the final. They take on Gujarat Giants tomorrow.
