Bangladesh beat T20 World Champions England in the first T20I on Thursday when both sides clashed in Chattogram. The Bangladesh bowlers held England's hard-hitting batting unit to under 160, with skipper Jos Buttler scoring 67.

In reply, Najmul Hossain Shanto took the attack to England's pace attack, slamming a 30-ball 51, laced with eight fours to help his side win the match by six wickets.

Rewarded player of the match award, Shanto said that this win should instil confidence in the T20I side and that Bangladesh should win the series after taking a 1-0 lead

Here's what Shanto said

"Winning the first match will give us a lot of confidence, but we must start afresh in the second game. There will be new plans but the motivation and thinking will change after this game. We should win the series from this position. We have to play well on that particular day.”

Speaking about his batting, the southpaw revealed that he wanted to play as per the delivery on offer and did not have any preconceived plans.

The 24-year-old also lauded head coach Chandika Hathurusingha for giving batters freedom to express themselves in the middle.

The second T20I will be played on Sunday, as teams shift bases to Dhaka for the final leg of the tour.
