Kim Garth who came in as a replacement for West Indies' Deanda Dottin scalped a five-wicket haul for Gujarat Giants against UP Warriorz on Sunday.

It was the second fifer of the day, with the first one coming from Delhi Capitals' Tara Norris against RCB.

Garth, who went unsold in the auction, flew to India on Friday as a replacement player and made an instant impact, helping her side get to a comfortable position in their second match of the Women's Premier League (WPL).

The Giants batted first, and despite a few hiccups, they posted a healthy 169, thanks to a calculated knock from Harleen Deol (46 off 32), and late cameos from Ashleigh Gardner and Dayalan Hemalatha.

UP Warrioz boasted a strong batting unit, led by skipper Alyssa Healy, but that aura of a great lineup faded when wickets started tumbling at regular intervals. Garth started the downfall with the big wicket of Healy, who was caught and bowled for 7.

In the space of four deliveries, she got rid off Under-19 star, Shweta Sehrawat, and the pacer opened up the game with her twin strike.

Garth then trapped the big fish and her Aussie teammate, Tahlia McGrath for a golden duck. It was a seam bowling masterclass as Tahlia went after a seaming delivery and the outside-edge was taken safely at first slip.

Kiran Navgire somewhat resurrected the innings, but just when she started to find her groove, Garth came into the attack and dismissed the dangerous looking batter for 53.

In the very next delivery she scalped Simran Shaikh for a golden duck as the Warriorz sucummed to defeat.

At the time of writing, the match is nicely poised, with UP needing 6 from 2 balls. Grace Harris is smashing at 49 off just 25 deliveries.
