WPL 2023 | Lucknow franchise to be known as UP Warriorz; Lisa Sthalekar appointed mentor

In the latest development, the Lucknow franchise in the upcoming Women's Premier League will be known as UP Warriorz. 

Moreover, with the other franchises announcing their coaching staffs, UP Warriorz have joined the race and have roped in former Australian women's captain, Lisa Sthalekar as the mentor of the side. 

Having represent Australia in 125 ODIs, 54 T20Is, and 8 Test matches, her experience will be a valuable asset for the UP team.

Apart from sthalekar, the franchise have acquired Jon Lewis as their head coach, Anju Jain as the assistant coach, and Ashley Noffke as the bowling coach of the side.

The franchise is owned by Capri Global Holdings Private Limited and they won the bid for the Lucknow franchise at INR 757 crores at the auction held by BCCI.

Jon Lewis, who is the current head coach of the England women's team, has the coaching experience at the international level and has also worked with the England men's squad.

The WPL auction will take place on February 13 in Mumbai. It'll be interesting to see which players the franchises go after.
