In a remarkable turn of events, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has surpassed legendary Rahul Dravid in a batting feat.

The talismanic batter slammed a scintillating ton on day 2 of the ongoing Test match in Nagpur, overtaking Dravid in the list of highest run-getters for India against Australia across formats.

Most runs for India versus Australia across formats

  • Sachin Tendulkar: 6707 Runs in 144 innings
  • Virat Kohli: 4571 Runs in 99 innings
  • VVS Laxman: 3173  Runs in 73 innings
  • Rohit Sharma: 3128 Runs in 74 innings
  • Rahul Dravid: 3071 Runs in 96 innings

P.S: Dravid's rest 69 runs against Australia have come while playing for the ICC World XI.

Opening the batting, Rohit amused the jam-packed Nagpur crowd with his impeccable grit and nonchalant stroke play.

The stylish right-hander took all Australian bowlers to the cleaners and bailed India out of the danger zone before being cleaned up by a Pat Cummins jaffa in the post-tea session.

As evident from aforementioned stats, Rohit has enjoyed stellar success against mighty Aussies. If we break down his numbers, out of 3128 runs, 528 have come in Tests, 2208 in ODIs and 392 in T20Is.

Regarding the game, Ravindra Jadeja is fighting like a lone warrior against Australia at the moment, as India are steadily increasing their first innings lead. As of writing, the hosts are 257 for 7, with Jadeja and Axar Patel batting on 50* and 4*, respectively.
