The race for the playoffs of IPL 2025 is heating up, and in the 48th match of the season, Delhi Capitals are up against Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR need to win this game to keep their realistic hopes of qualifying for the playoffs alive, and they have made an interesting change to their line-up with Anukul Roy included in place of Chetan Sakariya.

From U19 Glory To KKR Contract

Anukul Roy first grabbed limelight in the U19 World Cup 2018 when he emerged as the join-leading wicket-taker. He is mainly a bowling all-rounder who bowls left-arm spin, and is a handy lower order batter. He has played 11 matches in the IPL so far, with his debut coming in the 2019 season for Mumbai Indians.

He has played 10 matches for KKR previously, but has not been able to make a significant impact, something which he would like to change against DC. He has five wickets in IPL, and plays for Jharkhand in domestic cricket.

Anukul Roy's Domestic Record

Overall, in T20s, Anukul Roy has 37 wickets in 56 innings while he has 657 runs at a strike-rate of 150.34. He has a decent record in List A cricket too, but has been more impactful in first-class cricket. In 62 first-class innings, he has four hundreds and seven fifties, while he has 112 wickets as well.

Thus, Anukul Roy has the potential to make an impact both with the bat and ball. He could prove to be effective if the pitch turns out to be helpful. In SMAT 2024, Anukul Roy scored 137 runs at a strike-rate of 165.06, while he also bagged eight wickets in seven innings.
