Yograj Singh, a former Indian seamer and father of Indian Star cricketer Yuvraj Singh blamed veteran MS Dhoni and targeted him for India's exit from the tournament in 2019.

India was chasing a target of 239/8 runs in 50 overs, Ravindra Jadeja contributing 77 runs with the bat, and MSD scored 50 runs and later was run out leaving 24 runs for the tailenders to chase.

“Dhoni deliberately didn't bat well so that India lose to the Kiwis. He never wanted any other captain to lift the World Cup title for India.“While Ravindra Jadeja, was displaying great courage at one end and helping India get close to the total, Dhoni did not play to his ability. Had he (Dhoni) played 40 percent of his ability, we could have won the match in the 48th over,” he alleged.

Speaking to NNIS Sports, Yograj questioned Dhoni’s tactics of playing slow in the death overs and blamed him for putting pressure on Ravindra Jadeja at the other end.

“Mr Mahendra Singh Dhoni, you have played so much cricket. Don’t you have any sense about what to do and what not? Did Yuvraj ever tell any other player to play the shots as you do?,” he added.
