In a significant development, Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming has revealed that premier all-rounder Ben Stokes has sustained a fresh injury, which will likely rule him out of action for a few more days in the ongoing Indian Premier League season.

Notably, Stokes, who featured in the first two matches for CSK, missed the subsequent fixtures due to an ankle injury.

However, as Fleming disclosed in the press conference after CSK's clinical win against SRH, the legendary English cricketer's return to the playing XI will be delayed further as he has developed another injury.

Here's what Fleming stated on Stokes' IPL return

"He (Stokes) had another little setback yesterday so he will probably be a few days or a week away. This is a challenge but the team is playing well,

"The first thing is him being fit and then if we have a headache around selection, the nature of the IPL is that things happen. Our priority is to get him fit. At the moment, he’s not quite ready, But as soon as he is, we’ll worry about the next part."

Speaking of CSK, the MS Dhoni-led outfit is placed third in the points table with four wins in six matches. They will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the 33rd game of the tournament on Sunday night.
