In the age of social media, candid moments often become viral sensations, and South African skipper Temba Bavuma's apparent nap quickly became a topic of discussion among cricket enthusiasts.

Bavuma found himself in the midst of a lighthearted controversy recently when a photo captured him appearing to be caught "sleeping" at the ODI World Cup captain's day.

Ahead of the tournament's opening, ICC hosted a captain's press conference. However, during the press meet, Bavuma appeared to have fallen asleep while his counterparts took turns to answer tournament-related questions.

The photo captured showed the South African captain in a relaxed posture, which led to playful speculations about whether he was catching a quick nap during the event.

South Africa Skipper Responds To Viral WC Photo!

Bavuma, known for his calm and composed demeanor on the field, took a good-natured approach to the situation. The skipper was quick to dismiss the rumors after the photo went viral on social media. He said the camera angle fooled people into believing that he was sleeping. But in reality, he was not napping and was attentive throughout the event.

"I blame the camera angle, I wasn't sleeping," Bavuma stated after the photo went viral.

Not only that, Temba Bavuma answered a couple of questions wherein he was asked to weigh his thoughts on how the subcontinent experience will affect South Africa's World Cup campaign.

He says that the prior experience of playing in India isn't exactly an advantage. But the players with adequate knowledge could share the same amongst the younger group.

Having said that, the Proteas registered a relatively successful campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023. They made it to the semi-finals but couldn't grasp the steep challenge thrown by the mighty Australians.

Moreover, Bavuma's individual performance also came under scrutiny. He failed to lead his side from the front as an opener and a substantial figure of the batting lineup. That undoubtedly hurt the Proteas knockout campaign.

Currently, Bavuma is leading his side in a two-game Test series against India.
