West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph found a new home at the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) camp. Previously, the speedster spent two seasons at Gujarat Titans and was even part of their title-winning run in 2022.

Notably, the lanky Antiguan cricketer had made his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians franchise back in 2019 itself. Turning up for his side in his first match of the tournament against SRH in Hyderabad, Joseph stunned one-and-all by securing a record-shattering spell of 6-12.

When Alzarri Joseph shattered SRH for Mumbai Indians

Alzarri Joseph made his IPL debut during the 2019 edition of the tournament for Mumbai Indians. After failing to find a place in Mumbai Indians’ starting XI in their first four games, Joseph earned his maiden IPL cap through their away fixture against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

In front of a packed Hyderabad crowd, the Mumbai Indians amassed 136-7 upfront with Kieron Pollard top-scoring the innings through his 26-ball 46*. While Pollard shone with the bat, his national teammate Alzarri Joseph shattered SRH’s famed batting line-up later in the game by finishing with astonishing figures of 6-12 from 3.4 overs.

For starters, Joseph cleaned up SRH veteran and opener David Warner off the very first ball of his spell, and dismissed number three Vijay Shankar the following over to tilt the game back in his side’s favour. In his return spell during the death overs, the West Indies paceman snapped four more wickets in the space of just seven deliveries to record the best-ever IPL bowling figures in history.

Alzarri Joseph is currently slated to represent the RCB franchise in the upcoming IPL 2024 season. The cricketer was acquired by the team management at the auction alongside the likes of fellow new recruits Yash Dayal and Tom Curran.
