When Ravindra Jadeja Missed T20 World Cup 2022 With Grievous Knee Surgery

Weeks ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022 scheduled in Australia, the Indian cricket team received a major blow as Ravindra Jadeja got ruled out following a knee injury that required immediate surgery.

The Indian cricket team, under the new leadership of Rohit Sharma, was preparing for the first big assignment in the latter half of the year 2022. The T20 World Cup was scheduled to be on floors starting October 2022 in Australia.

While the leadership witnessed a transition of power, the shorter format squad was also revamped with new-generation players. Moreover, despite a lack of experience in foreign conditions, the management backed the promising youngsters and IPL stars to cross the finish line.

However, just weeks ahead of the pivotal tournament, the men in blue faced a massive setback. Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out for the entirety of the tournament due to a recurring knee injury.

Ever since Jadeja adopted a full-time all-rounder’s role, his knee has been taking the heat due to his awkward right foot landing position. Not only that, it was reported that Jadeja had been playing through the minor niggle in the Asia Cup, which worsened over time. 

Subsequently, BCCI’s medical team advised Jadeja to undergo immediate knee surgery to avert aggravation of the injury. While the exact diagnosis was not revealed, the all-rounder was slated to miss at least three months of cricketing action. The injuries continue to haunt Jadeja till date, as the all-rounder was ruled out of the second Test match against England due to a hamstring issue.

Ravindra Jadeja has been a highly impactful player for India across all formats for a while now. His impact from both ends of the ball is often underestimated. Jadeja is not only a finisher but has also mastered the art of deception with his elite spin bowling skills.

Thus, Ravindra Jadeja’s omission caused a significant dent in India’s T20 World Cup winning odds as the men in blue strive for immediate replacements to fill the void.
