In a significant setback for the Indian cricket team, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the upcoming second Test against England in Vizag, commencing on February 02, 2024. The dynamic player suffered a hamstring injury during the intense action on Day 4 of the first Test in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, KL Rahul has also been ruled out due to a complaint of right quadriceps pain.

Known for his exceptional prowess as one of the best runners between the wickets, Jadeja was already grappling with a hamstring niggle. The injury worsened when a direct hit from England's Ben Stokes resulted in a game-changing dismissal. Unfortunately, Jadeja couldn't recover in time to represent the hosts in Visakhapatnam.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Medical Team is closely monitoring Jadeja's recovery progress. To fill the void left by his absence, the Men's Selection Committee has included Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar in India's squad.

Meanwhile, Saransh Jain has been named as a replacement for Washington Sundar in the India A squad for the third and final multi-day game against England Lions, scheduled to begin on February 1, 2024, in Ahmedabad.

Avesh Khan, who continues to travel with his Ranji Trophy team, Madhya Pradesh, has been kept on standby and will join the Test squad if required.

India's updated Squad for 2nd Test vs England:

Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Avesh Khan, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar, Sourabh Kumar.
