Three spots remain open for the playoff stage of the IPL 2024, with Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) still contending for a place. Their upcoming clash in Delhi on Tuesday is crucial as both teams vie to stay in the race for the playoffs.

For both DC and LSG, victory is imperative to maintain their hopes of advancing to the playoffs.

A loss would effectively eliminate DC from contention for a top-four finish, while LSG could still progress even with a defeat, albeit depending on other teams' results.

DC has only managed one win in their last three IPL matches, while LSG suffered consecutive defeats against KKR and SRH.

In their previous encounter, DC secured a six-wicket victory over LSG.

When DC Faced LSG In Lucknow

Lucknow started strongly with Quinton de Kock leading the charge, but his departure after some aggressive hitting and Devdutt Padikkal's continued struggles dampened their momentum. Skipper KL Rahul fought valiantly but lacked support from the other end. Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran fell victim to Kuldeep Yadav's spin magic, adding to LSG's woes.

Despite a collapse to 94/7 from 57-3, Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan formed a crucial partnership, guiding LSG to a respectable total of 167, with Badoni unbeaten on 55 off 35 balls and Arshad Khan on 20 off 16 balls.

Chasing 168, Delhi faced early setbacks as David Warner was struck on the wrists and then dismissed by chopping one onto his stumps. However, debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk injected momentum with two sixes in his IPL debut. Prithvi Shaw provided support with six fours in the powerplay but fell while attempting to attack Ravi Bishnoi.

LSG tightened their grip with four quiet overs post-powerplay, led by Ravi Bishnoi. Fraser-McGurk struggled for timing, prompting skipper Rishabh Pant to take charge. Pant's aggressive play against Bishnoi shifted the momentum in DC's favour. At the end, Shai Hope and Tristan Stubbs remained unbeaten to lead their team to victory.
