[Watch] When Shane Warne-Samuels Indulged In Heated Face-Off During A BBL Clash

The Melbourne derby fixture between the Stars and the Renegades at the iconic MCG during the 2012-13 edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) is remembered for a shocking altercation between spin wizard Shane Warne and West Indies batter Marlon Samuels.

The Australian leg-spin great was playing for the Stars when he was seen indulging in the most heated face-off with the Renegades right-hander during the opposition's run-chase and even grabbed his shirt in brash anger.

Warne was responding to Samuels' similar gesture earlier in the game against Stars' middle-order stalwart David Hussey in an ugly exchange which didn't go down well with his legendary teammate, who gave it back in equal measure.

The Ugly Warne-Samuels Face Off

Warne was initially seen throwing a word in Samuels' direction between overs, presumably telling him not to mess up with his teammate and mind his behaviour.

However, the great man lost his cool and perhaps crossed the line himself when he went up to the batter after a defensive push off his bowling and abused him.

Warne even grabbed Samuels' shirt while telling him in no uncertain terms not to go after a teammate of his ever again. The legend completely lost his temper in trying to make a point.

The jeering continued later in the game when Warne controversially threw the ball at Samuels even as he didn't attempt to take a single. This is when Samuels was seen throwing his bat in the air as a mark of displeasure expressed towards Warne.

The horrific exchange led to fines being imposed at the two cricketers by the BBL authorities. Warner, who had to pay A$4,500 for his ill-advised behaviour, was even banned for one match in Australia's premier T20 league. As it turned out, it was the great bowler's last edition of the BBL.
