Mitchell Starc [X.com]
Mitchell Starc is renowned for his ability to generate alarming late swing and deliver unplayable yorkers at the international stage. The Australia seamer loves to run past batters' defences and send the stumps cartwheeling after thwarting their downswing with his slingy action and late movement at great speeds.
One of Starc's most iconic moments came during the 2019 World Cup in England when he left England's perennial match-winner Ben Stokes in absolute shock and disbelief with a perfect yorker that hit the base of the off-stump.
The marquee dual was won at the iconic Lord's cricket ground during the fag end of England's run-chase against Australia in the league match. Starc reduced Stokes to a helpless state and send him walking back in what was a body blow to England's chances of upstaging their great rivals.
When Starc Dismissed Stokes With A Peach
Even though Stokes hung deep inside his crease and kept his bat at a lowish angle to try and keep the anticipated yorker out, he still couldn't withstand Starc's wrath as the delivery hit the base of the stumps with such force and brutality that even England's explosive left-hander stood there speechless.
Stokes even dropped his bat and his head down in utter disbelief after being stunned by the quality of the ball which was unplayable in the way it swung extremely late and went at over 145 kmph clicks. The batter then kicked his bat away in frustration but soon accepted fate and made the long walk back.
It was one of Starc's four scalps in a memorable spell for just 43 runs. The menacing left-arm quick lent a blow England never recovered from and conceded defeat by 64 runs after being set a target of 286 by their Ashes counterparts.
