Swashbuckling English opener Jason Roy ensured a solid start for his IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders in their ongoing game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, exhibiting sensational hitting in the power play. Riding on Roy's fireworks, KKR raced to 66 in just six overs in the power play.

RCB skipper Virat Kohli's decision to bowl first on M. Chinnaswamy stadium's batting-friendly deck proved fatal for the home side, as Roy and his opening partner Narayan Jagadeesan took on the RCB bowlers to provide their team with a dream start.

Roy, who joined KKR as an injury replacement, went berserk on all RCB bowlers to compose a flamboyant knock. After negating the lethal new ball duo of Mohammed Siraj and David Willey, the veteran Englishman tonked left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed for four sixes in an over, scoring 25 runs in this process.

After timing one perfectly over the long-on fence for a maximum, Roy slog-swept Ahmed for another flat six in the very next delivery. If that was not enough, he pulled and then again swept the bowler for two more sixes to conclude the over on a high note.

As of writing the report, the Knight Riders are flying high, placed at 75 for no loss in eight overs. With Roy batting on 52* off just 24, the visitors look all set for a mammoth score.
