Virat Kohli maybe amongst the most watchable batters ever in world cricket history but the India legend's bowling action continues to evoke great hysteria and laughter. Kohli has a wrong-footed approach to the delivery stride and ends up rotating his head in an awkward angle at the crease.

The military-medium pacer's strange bowling action tends to play fodder for memes and jokes on social media, with the esteemed cricketer himself once making funny remarks about it. In his famous interview on the YouTube show 'Breakfast With Champions' with Gaurav Kapoor, Kohli said the heavens had dealt him an unfair blow by giving him such a clumsy action.

Kohli said he can't help but twist and shake his head awkwardly before rolling towards the bowling crease and it's the only way he gains some rhythm to his deliveries. So while aware that he ends up making a wrong-footed landing, Kohli wore a funny expression and said he had made a compromise with himself on the bowling front.

When Kohli Joked About His Bowling Action

As the ever-humorous and lively Kapur took his memorable interaction with Kohli to the man's hilarious bowling action, Kohli said he feels hard done by the god to have given him such a strange approach to the bowling stride and revealed he tends to end up wrong-footed even when he tries to bowl spin in the nets.

"Mera action hi bhagwan ne itna ganda banaya hai. Main jab spin bhi daalta hun tab bhi aese ho jata hai (god has given me such a poor-looking bowling action. Even when I bowl spin, I lose my footing (gestures)," Kohli said on the YouTube show.

Kohli's action is once again in talks after he was required to finish the latter half of an interrupted over of injured Hardik Pandya in the ICC World Cup 2023 game on Thursday (October 19). As Pandya hurt his ankle while trying to save an on-drive off his bowling from Bangladesh opener Litton Das and limped off the field, Kohli was asked by skipper Rohit Sharma to complete the over.

For all the awkwardness to his action, Kohli got the ball to swing in beautifully to Das and gave away just two runs off his three deliveries. The 34-year-old was once an integral part of former skipper MS Dhoni's bowling plans for part-time options and has taken eight wickets at the international stage.
