Wasim Jaffer raises doubts over KL Rahul's captaincy credentials

In the second ODI, Bangladesh managed to dig themselves out of a hole from 69 for 6 to 271 for 7, much to India's misery. In the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul took charge after the former left the field due to a finger injury. Under Rahul's captaincy, India have had a tough time, having won three and lost three ODIs, including suffering a 0-3 drubbing at the hands of South Africa in early 2022.

Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has now raised doubts over Rahul's captaincy credentials, who will captain the visitors at Chattogram. Indian bowlers opted to wait for wickets to come to them in the second ODI, which saw Mahmudullah and Mehidy Hasan Miraz stitch a 148-run stand for the sixth wicket.

According to IndiaToday, Jaffer lauded Miraz and Mahmudullah as well.

“We had good bowlers in Mohammed Siraj and Axar Patel. Umran Malik also did well, but Bangladesh had the answers to all the questions. They batted wonderfully well and rotated the strike nicely. It’s difficult when your captain is in (not on the field) and the keeper has to lead.

KL Rahul is not a very experienced captain, especially at the international level. That may have had an effect, but that can’t be an excuse. You’ve got to give credit to Bangladesh,"

India will look to deny Bangladesh a series clean sweep, and win the third and final ODI on Saturday.

Team India will be without the services of Rohit Sharma, Deepak Chahar, and Kuldeep Sen, who are all ruled out due to injury.
