In the absence of Hardik Pandya and when the likes of Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha failed to make it big, Vijay Shankar played an enthralling blinder for Gujarat Titans against Kolkata Knight Riders, scoring his fourth IPL fifty.

On Sunday, Shankar smashed a quick fire fifty off just 21 deliveries, taking Gujarat to a mammoth total of 204 runs at Ahmedabad.

The Tamil Nadu all-rounder completed his fifty with a maximum off Shardul Thakur and took charge, tonking two more against the medium pacer. Ultimately, he finished at an unbeaten 63 after playing 24 balls, which included 4 fours and 5 sixers.

Shankar, promoted to number 5, played over David Miller as the GT team management went with a right-left combination in the middle as Sai Sudharsan was blazing for the reigning champions.

The 32-year-old, promoted to number 5, played over David Miller as the GT team management went with a right-left combination in the middle as Sai Sudharsan was blazing for the reigning champions.

After the Titans lost Sudharsan at 53 in the 18th over, Shankar put the feet on the accelerator, despite Miller being at the crease. He took the surge in the penultimate over, going berserk off Lockie Ferguson, but he was gung-ho in the last over that was bowled by Shardul.

Gujarat have an unbeaten streak in the IPL 2023, meanwhile, KKR are coming off a fantabulous win over Bangalore.
