In what should have been a contest between two equally matched sides, Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians, the Qualifier 2 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) was all about Shubman Gill. In red-hot form lately, Gill demolished the Mumbai attack and propelled himself into the record books by slamming his third IPL 2023 ton and crossing the 800-run mark.

Gill's belligerent hundred powered GT to an imposing total of 233, which MI found difficult to chase. Apart from Suyrakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma, no other batter could get going, and Mohit Sharma once again starred with the ball, picking a five-wicket haul.

Mumbai Indians head coach Mark Boucher lauded Gill's innings and said MI bowlers couldn't execute their plans. The Indian opener started slowly, making his first fifty in 32 balls and then accelerating.

As quoted by India Today, Boucher concluded that MI were outplayed by GT.

Here's what Boucher said

"Unfortunately, T20 game is tough at times and we were outplayed. Gill played a fantastic innings, and unfortunately, we couldn’t execute through the night, which happens in T20 cricket."

Gill will next be in action for GT, when they go up against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2023 Final, which takes place on Sunday.
