In an unfortunate turn of events, veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is set to be ruled out of the one-off Test match against Afghanistan due to injury. Notably, Shakib sustained a finger injury during the recently concluded away series against Ireland. In his absence, experienced keeper-batter Litton Das will lead Bangladesh in the Test match.

While speaking to the media on Friday, Bangladesh Cricket Board chief Nazmul Hassan Papon said,

"If Shakib Al Hasan is injured, the vice-captain will be the captain. Litton is the vice-captain, I know that."

Shakib's unavailability could be a massive blow to Bangladesh, who would be desperate to make it one-all versus Afghanistan in the purest format. In 66 Tests, the stylish left-handed batter has amassed 4454 runs, besides scalping 233 wickets.

Meanwhile, Litton Das has enjoyed stellar success across formats in recent times. Overall, in 38 Tests, the batter has garnered 2319 runs, including three tons, at a decent average of 35.68.

The much-anticipated Test between Bangladesh and Afghanistan is scheduled on June 14 at the iconic Sher-e-Bangla National stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. After that, both teams will clash in three ODIs and two T20Is in July.
