At the tender age of 23, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green notched his maiden Test century on his inaugural tour of India during the fourth Test in Ahmedabad. The young all-rounder, looking threateningly sharp, appeared in fine fettle on Day 2 of the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023.

Patiently manoeuvring his way through the morning session against the Indian spinners alongside Usman Khawaja, Green revved up his engine the moment the pacers took the ball, unleashing his fury on anything pitched full to him.

The 23-year-old batter, who brought up his century in 143 balls, eventually reached his goal early in the lunch session on Day 2, propelling the Australian score beyond the 350-run mark.

Green's phenomenal achievement made him the youngest batter to score a Test century for Australia in the subcontinent since Michael Clarke.

It is even more noteworthy given the subcontinent's challenging conditions, particularly against the spin. Nevertheless, the right-hander has now scored one century and six fifties from 20 Test matches.

Twitter erupted in response to Green's spectacular batting feat, with fans hailing the lanky all-rounder's brilliant performance.

While some Mumbai Indians supporters celebrated his form, particularly with the IPL around the corner, others praised Green as the future of Australian cricket for his exceptional displays in the Indian subcontinent, despite being just 23 years of age.

Here's a look at a few reactions:

Green's stunning performance has undoubtedly left cricket enthusiasts on tenterhooks, anticipating his future endeavours. His consistency and burgeoning talent could very well propel him to become one of Australia's leading players in the coming years.

Meanwhile, Day 2 witnessed the visitors asserting their dominance, spearheaded by Green and Khawaja. The duo's meticulous approach tested the mettle of the Indian bowlers, with Green taking the lead while Khawaja exhibited patience and caution.

Their partnership of 208 runs was eventually disrupted by Ravichandran Ashwin, who managed to induce an edge from Green, leading to his dismissal for a well-earned 114 runs off 170 balls, dotted with 18 sublime boundaries.
