Ashton Agar opened up on returning home in the middle of the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) in India, stating he has no hard feelings about not being selected for the first two Tests and he is gearing up to return to India for the three-match ODI series.

Agar arrived in India as one of the senior spinners in the Australian squad but returned home after not finding a place in the playing XI for the first two Tests in Nagpur and Delhi. The selectors opted for the uncapped duo of Todd Murphy and Matthew Kuhnemann over him.

The 29-year-old recently finished with 5 for 64 while playing for Western Australia in the Marsh Cup final against South Australia. It was his best ever figure in the tournament. Agar was in need of a morale boost and he got it on time.

Speaking after the Marsh Cup final, here's what Ashton Agar said:

“I felt I wasn’t bowling as well as I needed to be. It’s a very clear direction for me now to just work on it and improve.”

"I harbour no ill will or ill feeling at all. I'm very well supported in that (Australian) camp and they've kept in constant communication with me, so it's all in a good place."

"I've been a professional cricketer for ten years now, so I'm far more resilient than when I started. It's a tough game, it's a ruthless environment, and that's how it should be because it's the pinnacle of the sport."

Want to play for Australia in all formats: Ashton Agar

Agar's inconsistent performance in the longest format hasn't dashed his passion as he is still committed to proving his worth in red-ball cricket.

Notably, Ashton Agar is the part of Australia's ODI squad and he will return to India for the big assignment, set to be played from March 17. He'll be aiming to leave a mark with the ball and cement his place in the World Cup team.
